(Migrated) Pub/sub: permission denied

(This message has been automatically imported from the retired mailing list)

Hi,

I created a pub/sub topic “test” and tried the simple publishing
example from the documentation [1], i.e:

self.pubsub.publish(“foobar”, “topic/test”)

It gives me a “permission denied” error, but it doesn’t say why. I
thought this would publish as the default producer, which should
automatically have permission. Do I need to set extra permissions
somewhere?

I was thrown off by the example in the documentation. It does work when
I use:

self.pubsub.publish(“foobar”, “test”)

Thanks Sam,

just for completeness, the information why permission has been denied is
stored in logs/pubsub.log of the server that receives a given pub/sub call.

That is, external clients will only receive ‘permission denied’ and
details are in logs.
